@pandaking:

You can actually insert tables into posts if you add the table buttons to your visual editor. There are plugins that can do that for you. There were a few problems when I installed one, but I got it working through a little trial and error.

If I create something like that, I'm probably more likely to make a separate plugin that the gigs calendar can tie into for adding those bands to the gigs. That way, someone who doesn't care about the gigs stuff doesn't have to install the whole thing.

@Dan:
Hi again,

In setting up my band website I have found two other things I need and can't find elsewhere.

Firstly, many bands like to link to other bands on a "friends" page. I personally link to bands, promoters, venues etc and give links to their myspace, website etc.

Displaying this data is never easy though, as you can't embed tables in posts (and the plugin which lets you isn't being developed for WP v2.5).
Seeing as how you already have a database of the venues, I would think it would make sense for this feature to join on.

My next request follows on from the next one, which is to have a database of other bands, as currently their is no field to add other bands to a gigs line-up, and we often play with the same bands. Not only that you can then make profiles for the other bands, give them exposure and help our readers find the websites for the other bands on our line-up.

You can see an idea of my friends page here:
http://red88music.co.uk/friends/

Please note, my website is not finished yet...

@Dan: Also -
3 Wordpress Plugins:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/phplist-form-integration/
http://projects.jesseheap.com/all-projects/wordpress-plugin-phplist-comment-subscriber
http://www.funkypenguin.info/project/wp-phplist

I hope some of those resources help. As you can see, a couple add the subscribe form to your wordpress sidebar, one adds a little subscribe checkbox to the comment form (very nice feature).

One feature I would also like, is if someone registers on your wordpress blog then they can have that checkbox in their profile.

I am sure you will have many ideas on what a good integration plugin will need though.

Many thanks,
Panda

@Dan:
I think my message got marked as spam.

Well, I have to say I am using it - and it's fantastic. It's the only solution for people with large mailing lists too, as other fail sending emails etc.

The problem with most of the phplist/wordpress plugins is that they are not actively developed. It's unclear if they are compatible with the latest versions of wordpress.

The other thing is that none of them do all the features, so you would need to install two - which could cause conflicts.

Here are a few resources which might be of use to you:
PHPList Class - allows other programs to integrate with phplist:

@pandaking: I just recently heard about that one. I'll have to do a test install and check it out. What sort of features would you like to see integrated into WordPress that are lacking or poorly implemented in other plugins?

Hi,
Loving your plugins - many thanks.

I am currently developing the website for my band:
www.red88music.co.uk

On the downloads page I saw you mention mailing lists.
Take a look at PHPList - phplist.com
It's he ultimate mailing list management system, and there are a few plugins about for it - but they could be developed more etc.
If you wrote a nice fresh plugin for it I hink it would be very popular.

Thanks again,
Panda

@marc bosserman: You have to upload the mp3 files to your webserver then insert the links to the files. I want to add file management at some point, but that's a fairly major undertaking, so it'll take some planning.

I have a sit with Discography. I don't know where to put the files? Not sure where to load mp3 that go in it. I love the idea of the plug in and can't wait to get it into action.
I appreciate your incredible work.
Is there a help file?
I may have emailed you on the bug report but It did not appear so.
